traditional vs digital surrealists.

mc escher.
escher worked a lot through the mathematical view point of art with tesselations and repetition. he also worked a lot with wood engraving and lithographs. his pieces make you wonder how and why he created them. what stands out about his work the most for me is the complexity and the color. he likes to stay in black and white.

robert morris.

"an image maker." robert morris works with just about any and all types medium previously ranging from very traditional pen and ink, photography, and digital design. his pieces have a very creepy feel to them. this picture is kind of disgusting to be honest, but at the same time it's intriguing and i wish i knew how to photoshop an image to look this incredibly real.

project2.

The story behind this picture is all thanks to my best friend, Brittany. That's her and her having car trouble on the side of the road with absolutely no idea how to fix the problem. That's her hand on the wheel in the car in the foreground as well - zooming past without a care!

elements of art.

f/5.3, 1/200
i like this one because of the light coming in from the background and the sepia tone of the picture.

f/7.4, 1/1600
this one also gets my attention because of the focal point created by the white of the light contrasted by the black foreground.

 f/3.7, 1/500
i like this picture mostly because of the touching up i did on it. the blur of the train and the saturation of color in only a few spots along with the black vignette draws me in.

f/10.0, 1/500
it isn't the sepia tone of this picture that i like - it's the contrast. i think that's what i find most alluring about pictures because my favorites vary from black and white, sepia, to highly saturated color. again, though, this one has the contrast and movement that i find interesting.

f/7.4, 1/640
blue is one of my favorite colors - the sky draws me in right away. this picture almost reminds me of a cartoon and at first i have trouble figuring out what i'm looking at - again the high contrast or blue, black and white it what i find intriguing about this picture.
